Connecting with a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia could be just an app away. A new free app, made for iPads, allows you to create an interactive storybook on the life of a loved one with Alzheimer’s through personalized pictures, music and memory activities.
Developed by Jenny Rozbruch to help her connect with her grandmother, it allows the user to upload photos and include brief descriptions along with favorite music, to stir long-term memories. It also includes provided content from the 1930s through 1950s that can be used to further stimulate engagement.
According to field research, creative pursuits—such as music, art projects, poetry, and photo reminiscing—have shown positive effects when used as part of an Alzheimer’s care plan.
